The Young Rathestars is a group of Zoroastrians based in Dadar, Mumbai who reach out to the poor and impoverished Zoroastrian families. These families have little or no means of livelihood or income. The volunteers assist these families with educational, medical and financial needs. Food grains, clothes and other basic necessities are also distributed.

The organization operates only with funds collected via donations. Thus the level of assistance is based on the monies in the coffers.

15th Annual Gujarat Relief Project

January 12 & 13th 2007

The Rathestar volunteers were out in the villages of Bharuch and Ankleshwar once again, doing what the Rathestars do best.

Sixty Three “Kits” were distributed.  Each one consisted of non perishable food items and other daily needs such as Kusthtis, Sudras, blankets, towels, cooking pots and pans, etc.

Medical assistance was extended to three families and educational assistance to three deserving individuals.  Financial assistance was extended to one pursing a Diploma in Civil Engineering, yet another in the field of Computer Engineering.  Kayomaz Moghul stood 1st in the Gujarat Board of the SSC final exams.

This year the Rathestars also sponsored the Navjote ceremony for a couple of children in Gandevi.

The Rathestars are very proud of Zubin Hiraji Variava as he has persevered in a successful cattle farming project.  He used some of the financial assistance he received to build a permanent Cattle Shed and Stable.   Zubin is “Milking” in the profits from his dairy farming business.

In the village of Boria, Tehmul Anklesaria, with the assistance of his son Farokh, is seeing A Field of Greens!!!  This is a success story of one family that is grateful to the Rathestars for helping them establish the Well that provides them with the irrigation for their farm.

It is a very satisfying feeling to see some of these well deserving families trying to get on their feet and help themselves earn a decent livelihood.  All this is possible ONLY with your generous donations.

Much more needs to be done to help many of the impoverished families and their children.

Repairs to the dwellings, medical assistance and distribution of the “Kits” that are a big part of critical assistance are really appreciated by these needy Zarathusthis.

The Rathestars and its volunteers are extremely committed to these causes and will continue to strive to provide a better life with dignity for our fellow Zarathisthis who are less fortunate than most of us.

The Rathestars truly appreciate the generosity of all Zarathustis who extend themselves by helping with their generous contributions.

For this we say, “Thank You”!!

An Appeal:

Parsis are known for the slogan – “Parsi, thy name is Charity”.

The Young Rathestars are continually trying to raise funds that enable the volunteers to distribute essential ration “Kits”. Though the amount is not great, it helps our poor brethren for a period of time.

We fervently hope this little account of our trips in the past years will galvanize you to donate any amount you can. Your generous donations will help in the upliftment of these impoverished Zarathusthis.
